Introducing XLOV: Talent beyond boundaries and beauty beyond gender labels

By  |

Debuting in January 2025 with the song ‘I’mma Be‘, XLOV has had everyone talking ever since, and their fandom is growing all the time – including us!

XLOV is a four-member group from South Korea with a growing and passionate fanbase. But, what sets XLOV apart from other 5th Gen Kpop boy groups is their ‘genderless’ concept.

What’s the hype?

To XLOV, genderless is an artistic vision that they are exploring through music, fashion, dance and community. They embrace all expressions of beauty, regardless of gender expectations, and they unapologetically challenge gender norms. But the XLOV members are not newbies to the industry. The members were participants in Kpop survival shows, such as Boys Planet, and many other music and dance projects prior to debut with XLOV.

With so much experience the group has hit the ground running. The members are involved in production, lyric creation, choreography, and styling. For XLOV, attention to detail is everything and they are bringing us an incredibly exciting visual and listening experience.

After their first single ‘I’mma Be’, XLOV delivered a series of songs including ‘1&Only‘ and ‘Bizzness‘. Then late last year the group released their first Mini Album ‘ UXLXVE’ with MVs for ‘Rizz‘ and ‘Biii:-P‘.

New to XLOV? What You need to Know

Group Name: XLOV

The X means the unknown and negation, and LOV represents incomplete love.

Fandom: EVOL

EVOL is love spelled backwards and has been chosen to represent the deep connection between the group and their fans. EVOL means ‘blanket’ (official twitter – 14/01/25) as the fandom gives the group comfort and protection. The E of EVOL completes the love (providing the ‘E’) in XLOV.

Debut Date: 7th January, 2025.

XLOV just celebrated their first anniversary last month with XLOV 1st Anniversary Fan Concert<First Love>.

Label: 257 Entertainment

Concept: Genderless

The members share their genderless concept in everything they do; their music, performance and personas. But what exactly is genderless for XLOV? Their ‘genderless’ concept isn’t about androgyny or being without gender. Instead, they draw creatively from the masculine, feminine and everything in between. Not surprisingly, XLOV are a favourite with LGBT and queer fans, who can identify with XLOV’s gender freedom.

XLOV are creating something honest that fans can connect with. XLOV’s genderless vision is creating space for everyone regardless of how they express their sense of beauty.

The group members have not revealed their personal gender identities or sexual orientations. But they are playful with the pronouns they use, and the ones their fans use for them. For example, the members are OK with any English pronouns (she/her, he/him, they/them), fans call Wumati the group’s ‘mother’, Wumati uses a feminine pronoun in Japanese and the group members use the male term ‘hyung‘ for each other when speaking in Korean.

Fun Fact: All members wear a contact lens in their personal colour. It gives them a cute and distinctive odd eye look.
