Yokai better watch out!
SMASH! is an anime & manga convention for everyone from the casual anime watcher to the seasoned figurine collector and all appreciators of Japanese Pop-Culture. It will be held at the ICC Sydney on 13 and 14 July 2019.
From their growing gaming section to the unique panels & awesome guests, this convention is brimming with the best of the best. Each year SMASH! chooses a theme to help support their event and a local artist with a design to match and this year is no different with the theme being “Yokai“
Not only does the theme open up opportunities for cosplayers to think outside the box, it is a lot of fun too. There will be so much to see and do, let’s see what they have in store for us. Here’s the details direct from SMASH!
Awesome guests to expect
It is not every day that some of the biggest Japanese stars come to Sydney to perform, do exclusive signings and host panels for you to enjoy! From Kugimiya Rie, the voice actress from ‘Full Metal Alchemist’ and ‘Fairy Tail’, to The Anime Man, with over 250,000,000 views on his YouTube videos, SMASH! is hitting 2019 with a big bang.
Meet guests such as Toriumi Kousuke. featured as Kiba Inuzuka from Naruto, Imaizumi Shunsuke from Yowamushi Pedal and Acnologia from Fairy Tail. He is just one of the wonderful guests visiting Sydney.
Another awesome guest appearing is Japanese actress, voice actress, and singer, Orikasa Fumiko who voices Kuchiki Rukia from Bleach, Momoi Satsuki from Kuroko no Basket, and Riza Hawkeye from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. She is also featured in one of the most popular fighting games – Streetfighter – as Chun-Li, you can expect a few surprises from this guest.

I Love Anisong
For one night only, July 13th 2019, I Love Anisong Sydney 2019 will take over the 2,500 capacity Darling Harbour Theatre with four of Japan’s biggest names in Anime music.
Music artists in Japan strive for the opportunity to perform the opening or closing theme song of popular anime series which are watched by millions across world. Unfortunately many of these artists never get the opportunity to perform for Australian fans.
To fill this void SMASH! is bringing some of the best Japan has to offer to Australia, with superstars Minori Chihara, kz(livetune), nano, and Konomi Suzuki ready to hit the stage in July for I Love Anisong Sydney 2019.
So come one and all to the ICC Sydney this upcoming 13 & 14 July and see what it’s all about. We can’t wait to go and see all the incredible guests, panels, workshops and let’s not forget the adorable maid cafe.
