HallyuPopFest Sydney ’22 came to an end after two massive days, 13 and 14 August in Sydney at Qudos Bank Arena.

On August 14th, HallyuPopFest brought some of the best K-POP acts to Sydney and they gave us a performance of a lifetime. There were also many fun events and experiences that had been prepared for the fans throughout the day.

One of the most popular and engaging events was the Random Dance section that was organised by the Horizon Dance Crew and LHKREW. They brought a fun and interactive event outside the venue so that many K-POP fans were able to join in.

It was evident that this event brought all the fans together via a shared love and knowledge of K-pop choreography, allowing all the fans to dance along to the tracks that they know. Everyone brought their dancing shoes along and showed off the dance moves that they remembered. It was a great moment to be part of!

Another major part of HallyuPopFest Sydney ’22 was HallyuTown. This was opened throughout the two days and allowed fans to immerse themselves in aspects of the Korean culture. There were stalls set up that allowed fans to sample a range of items that were bought in from Korea, including cosmetics, snacks, a dancing machine and a temporary tattoo machine.

What was extra special about HallyuTown on August 14th was the special event featuring Oneus. Since they were the ambassador for the event, they spent some time interacting with their fans and signing some of the items available. These were then won by fans who had spent money in HallyuTown. Unfortunately, not all the fans were able to enter the venue as there were limitations in the number of fans that were able to be there. Nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to show Oneus some love!

As the Hi-Wave and Red Carpet experience for the VIPs came to an end, the fans were able to make their way into the main concert hall. In no time the arena was filled with fans buzzing with excitement. Something very special about the second day was the fact that the tickets for the concert were sold out! No wonder the energy was so high and the palpable excitement could be felt in the air.

Once again, we were greeted by the intense and engaging animations on the big screen that hyped fans up for the first performance of August 14th. KEP1ER entered the stage with much overflowing charisma, bringing us their hit track, ‘Wa Da Da‘. Fans were singing along and pumping their light sticks with the beat. It was clear that they had captured the fans from the get-go.

Despite the high energy in the songs, there were moments that allowed the members to interact with the fans, giving either a wave or a heart gesture. They also brought summer to Sydney with their fun and uplifting tracks ‘Up!‘ and ‘Le Voya9e‘. Overall, they definitely set the bar high for the rest of the artists.

To match the energy that KEP1ER brought to the stage, Oneus entered with their intro track, which then morphed into their ‘Bring It On‘ performance. Each move they made was full of power and executed with perfection. This combined with their undeniable stage presence had fans screaming and hyping the members up.

It was a special bonus to see just how much energy they put into each of their performances. They had fans screaming even louder for their more traditional tracks ‘Luna‘ and Lit‘. The way they utilised traditional elements in the song was smart and really helped elevate the emotions of the song. They had also performed ‘Black Mirror‘ and gave a powerful dance break. They embraced their inner Michael Jackson and gave us moves like no other before ending the performance with ‘No Diggity‘.

Then, Oh My Girl entered the stage with their cute personalities. They performed their biggest hits including ‘Dolphin‘, ‘Dun Dun Dance‘ and ‘Real Love‘. These songs definitely allowed their charms to shine as each performance brought out their fun and cute vibe. They gave off the right vibe and expression that fit with each of the songs while maintaining great interactions with the fans throughout the performance. They had the fans on their feet and dancing along with them.

They surprised and delighted fans when they presented the rock version of the Queendom track, ‘Guerilla‘, which was like no other track we have heard from them. This definitely elevated the beauty of this track, especially with the high belts that were performed here and there by the members.

Astro really caught all of us off guard with their performance!

They began the night with their unit tracks. JinJin&Rocky kicked off the night with their powerful ‘Lockdown‘ track that got the audience up on their feet, grooving along to its vibe. They ended their duo performance with their funky ‘Just Breathe‘ where Rocky added in the “Aussie Aussie Aussie” chant to the song.

Unlike JinJin&Rocky who brought us fun tunes, Moonbin&Sanha brought the sexy vibes to the stage by performing ‘Bad Idea‘ and ‘Who‘. Each move they made had fans screaming and hyping the duo up; something about the way they move surely had us mesmerised (understatement of the century!). Throughout the performance, it appeared that Astro was addicted to the energy that the “Aussie Aussie Aussie” chant brought from the audience, as they included it with their talks and the performance, encouraging the audience to respond with “Oi Oi Oi”. Finally, with all of them on stage, they performed their latest title track, ‘Candy Sugar Pop‘, which was full of energy and super fun to listen to.

Kai was the perfect final act to end the night and HallyuPopFest Sydney ’22 with. He poured his energy and his full on charisma into his performance which ensured that the fans were screaming for him.

It was clear that he put 110% into each move, showcasing his sharp yet elegant choreography that had everyone captivated. He pulled out all the stops and gave us the sexiest moves which elevated the screams from the audience to another level.

His every move and facial expression was captured by every camera that was trained on him. It was clear that he knew the expressions and moves that would have fans swooning. Kai was born to be in the spotlight and it was clear that he was enjoying every moment of it. With every roar from the crowd, he got more expressive and really ate up the stage! It was an enjoyable performance that ended the night on a high!
